Easter in Santorini

Easter is the beginning of the Summer season for Santorini. But fist of all, Easter is a great Orthodox holiday for people in Santorini. Many Easter customs have been preserved for many years:

The red textiles at the balconies every Maundy Thursday,

the smell of "tsoureki" and "melitinia" a local dessert especially cooked for Easter,

the streets of Pyrgos (a village on the mountain) lighten by thousands of oil-lamps on Good Friday, and

the meeting of the two Epitaphs, in the central square of Fira are only a sample.

The Easter atmosphere and customs in combination with the shining Spring, makes Easter in santorini an experience to live!
