My husband and I went on the boat excursion on May 13, 2009. Buy your tickets down at the port. It costs 25 euro per person and 2 euro to climb up the volcano(but you pay for the volcano, when you get there). If you don't want to climb it, you can relax and wait. It was a very nice trip on the boat. The climb up the volcano was good exercise. It was hot and we were only there in May, can't imagine in July or August. We wore sneaks, but some people had flip-flops on. There are, of course alot of rocks and it is steep and slippery. Then we sailed to the Hot Springs. You jumped off the side of the boat from a ladder. You need to be a good swimmer to make it. Two people had to be helped because they couldn't make it there. We just stayed on the boat and took pictures. You're only there for 30mins. Then it was off to Thirassia to have lunch. You can eat at Captain Johns but we decided to climb the stairs to the village and have lunch at the Panorama Tavern. That was good. We walked through the village. It is very different from Santorini. The tour guide said this island is the way Santorini was 50 years ago. It is very poor. Then it is off to Oia, which is just a drop off for people who want to stay and visit. We had already been there before, so we just stayed on the boat and continued back to Fira. It was a beautiful trip, looking up at the beautiful villages above. Don't miss it.

The place is very beautiful but to climb the stairs up coming from the Caldera Trip and going up to Oia was quite exhausting. In general, the experience was wonderful and the Caaldera and the whole island of Santorini are so nice to see.
