  • Boutari Winery: "Loved the Kallisti"
    Date : 2004-08-04 21:56:18
    Rating : Excellent

Santorini is a wonderful place. Everyone must visit at least once in their life. While there, rent a scooter and ride to the Boutari winery on the south part of the island (near Red Beach). Very nice tasting room and two things shine here more than the hot Greek Island sun. Kallisti and their desert wines. I'm not really into desert wine, but I have to admit, it was good. As for wine, the Kallisti was by far the best (and of course the most expensive). However, it was only expensive in relative terms as it was something like 11.50 Euros while the others were more like 6-8 Euros. Go with the Kallisti. Fermented in French oak and then aged it's a wonderful and complex wine. My wife and I agreed it was the hands-down best we had while in Greece. Looking to buy another case as it appears to also age well for a white wine.
