Yorgos Kypris was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1954 and moved to Athens, Greece in 1967. He graduated from the Instituto Statale D’arte per la Ceramica, Faenza, Italy in 1978. The year 1980 he creates the art workshop studio ’71, with ceramist Antonella Toschi in Athens. In 1989 he abandons ceramics and creates MATI an art gallery/gallery shop at Fira, Santorini . Since then he shares his time between Santorini and Athens occupied in his workshops. His work makes part of museum, public and private collections around the world.
