Romantics consider Santorini to be the site of the Lost Continent of Atlantis. This southernmost Cycladic Island in the Aegean emerged in the wake of a volcanic eruption 3600 years back. The beautiful island offers breathtaking views of the Greek Isles. Ships tender at the Port of Skala to offer both land and sea excursions.

Santorini also known as Thira is the largest island of a small, circular archipelago bearing the same name. Tenders drop you on the shores of the caldera, at the foot of the cliffs. There are three ways to reach the towns up the hill. Cable car, donkey ride, or a 45 minute walk trudge uphill. Cable cars run every 15 minutes from 7:30 am – 9:00pm.

See the worlds largest caldera with magnificent contrast of colors, impressive landscape, happy entertainment, rich history and great climate that makes Santorini a popular cruise destination. The extinct volcano, dark sand beaches and awesome architectural sites await visitors.

Fira, the capital is perched at the cliff that is actually the rim of a crater. The other town called Oia or la is located at the summit of the caldera, on the northern tip of the island. The dark sea below provides unique, unforgettable experiences.

There are beaches with sand or pebbles made of petrified lava in various colors. Beach sand color depends on exposed geologic layer and so you have the Red Beach, Black Beach, White Beach and so on. The waters in darker colored areas are significantly warmer as the lava acts as heat absorber.
