I snapped my best shot of my 16-year-old daughter, Catherine, while on vacation in Greece in June. The photo was taken around the pool at the Astra Hotel on the Greek island of Santorini. Although the potential drop from the side of the pool looks imposing (given the steepness of the cliffs), the roof of the next building is only about 10 feet below the edge. The view from Astra is amazing!

What an incredibly beautiful spot of the world! We had a charming little apartment with a loft, but we didn't stay in it much. The view of the caldera from our terrace and the pool deck was breathtaking. We had trouble tearing ourselves away to go shopping and out to meals! Breakfast on the terrace every morning was delicious and beautifully presented, delivered promptly at the time we requested.

Only one warning, however. The hotel is located on the side of a steep cliff. It requires navigating many sets of steps, so it's not a place I'd recommend for the disabled or the fainthearted.

When we booked this 5 day getaway from the kids we were still in Houston.I was reading about Astra in a Greek magazine and it looked great.The website pictures were amazing ,so I thought I give it a try.It was easier than what I thought to make the reservations,although even a couple of months before our trip to Greece I still could not get the Luxury Suite with pool.The flight from Athens was easy.At the island the service was exceptional and personalized.The property has a unique view of the Caldera.The Suite was great .Every one of the staff went the extra way to make our stay unforgettable.George is a gifted manager.Anything that we asked for was provided ,and we had a great time.Overall I consider my self a very demanding customer.I do not care spending close to 1K per night as long as I get exceptional service.Before going to Astra I had my doubts ,but during my stay there the service far exceeded my expectations.George if you read this review thanks for making our 10th anniversary so unforgettable.We will come back.

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying at this facility. They have a spectacular, breath-taking view and comfortable surroundings. The staff could not have been more welcoming and warm. We would stay here again without hesitation. A traveler would be hard pressed to find a better location in Santorini than Astra Apartments.

My husband and I were there last September for the wedding of friends. We ourselves were newlyweds and it was THE PERFECT SPOT for a honeymoon and a wedding! The service was impeccable - breakfast of fresh meats, cheeses, fruit and breads, on your own terrace overlooking the Agean Sea was to die for! No experience like it! I would highly recommend to all.... Santorini and The Astra as a place to visit before they leave this earth! Loved it!
