My wife and I stayed here on our Honeymoon, in Early June 2005. As a new hotel, it had literally opened one week before our arrival. There were definitely advantages and disadvantages to this.
On the positive side, we were treated like royalty by everyone except one of the front desk guys (there were only 5 other guests at this large Hotel), we were the first ones to stay in our room (on the smallish side, but with nice decor, high quality furnishings, big balcony, and a nice bathroom).
On the negative side, there were still some service problems. One of the front desk guys was not too pleasant. When we needed to mail some post cards, he sent us into town, instead of mailing them for us. They did not yet have room service menus, work was still done on the property, etc...
However, everything was clean, well decorated, with a great restaurant and buffet breakfast. The pool was wonderful, as was the caldera view on the other side.
In summary, a clean, modern, hotel, and a great value. Definitely not world class, but great for the area.
