Really worth visiting Santorini. Unfortunately staying in a rather cheap but CLEAN place is almost impossible to find these days. Well ALMYRA proves me wrong!!! Surprisingly nice place to stay. Not a hilton's suite but home- like clean tranquil rooms. The lady that rents it is completely trustworhty. Located just a few minutes away (by car) the amazing village of OIA you can have the most of caldera viewing and little traditional street strolling with hundreds of other turists around and still have a relaxing place to go back to when decide so. We had a lovely time-thank you ALMYRA

Okay, but some problems |
We stayed at Almyra Apartments in Santorini for 4 nights of our honeymoon in September 2006.
The studio apartment itself was fantastic, it was large and clean it had a small kitchenette and beautiful views. It also had a small balcony, which adjoined the neighbouring apartment's balcony, but which had a side view of the sea.
The owner of the apartment could not have been more helpful or accomodating, she offered to drive us to the local villages a couple of times, and when she cleaned our room she even finished washing my husband's pants i'd left in the sink, and she hung them out for us. She doesn't speak much English.
There is a common area in front of the hotel that overlooks the ocean with lounge chairs where we sunbaked.
The main problem with the hotel is its isolation from everything on the island. I'd only recommend that you stay there if you have your own transport. Although the website advertises that the hotel is 50 metres from a bus stop, the bus only comes twice a day to go to Oia and twice a day to go to Fira. The hotel is in the general area of Oia, but is actually in Baxedes, a suburb of Oia, not in the town of Oia itself. It is basically in the middle of nowhere surrounded by empty fields.
We found it very restrictive to stay at Almyra and a bit boring. Although the website advertises that there is a beach below the hotel, the beach has Jellyfish, and is covered in stones, not sand. We were too scared to swim in it, and we couldn't lie on the beach because it was all sharp rocks.
You also can't drink the tap water in Santorini, as it is salty mineral water, so we had to catch the bus to Oia and carry back the water.
The place is far from the airport and you will basically be forced to hire a cab for 25 euros to get to the apartment.
Also, some taxis refused to drive us from the city centre of Oia or Fira to Almyra because the apartments are so isolated the taxi would be ending the trip with no hope of pickiing up passengers at the end of the ride, so they often refused to take us.
