We visited Ammos after some friends recommended it, on our first day in Santorini and ended up going there 4 more times before our departure a week later. The food was outstanding, the service by Aggelos and Olina was excellent and the setting was unbelievable. Go there on your first day because you will end up going again and again like we did!

Cooked or grilled fish is always outstanding, for not to mention entrees or even meat which is perfectly served. Try the "Ammos" salad along with the traditional cheese and white table wine. Than go for grilled shrimps and never forget to end with the famous "grilled apple" steeped in Vinsanto wine along with ice cream!!!

Just delicious!!! Irresistible!!!!

You can always ask Angelos(owner) to order for you Loabster. You'll eat the best Loabster-spaggeti EVER!!!

PS They have the cleanest WC of all restaurants!!! And this means a lot for the ones the know!!

the best restaurant in santorini where you can eat only fresh fish and believe me they know very well how to cook or to grill them !!!!!!!. Ammos salad is my favorite and also steamed mussels were just INCREDIBLE!!!!!!

I have recently returned to live in the UK after spending the last 19 years living on the island of Santorini. So I am very knowledgeable regarding the tavernas and restaurants there. Since Ammos Taverna was opened several years ago, I have made a point of eating there at least twice per week during the entire holiday season, whether it be for lunch or for dinner. The food is always a gastronomic delight to the taste-buds, and the menu offers truly traditional Greek dishes, many of which are based on recipes given by Angelos' and Olinas' mothers and grand-mothers. Every month Angelos and Olina have asked me to taste yet another new and wonderful addition to their simple but diverse menu, sometimes even naming the dish! Try the little shrimp & cheese pie appetizer next time you are there! Although specializing in fish, Angelos and Olina have included excellent meat and vegetarian dishes, as well as children's portions on their menu. Perivolos Beach is the most popular beach for those working on the island to relax during their rest periods. My favorite time for visiting Ammos is after 8.30pm, when Angelo and Olina greet their permanent clientele. Residents (including other restauranteurs) from all over the island congregate there to enjoy the ambiance and cuisine of this wonderful little beach taverna. In fact, most of the diving school and water sport facility guys and girls eat at Ammos every day! So what better recommendation can you have than that of the local people? Angelos and Olina have created a gastromomic paradise for all of us, and I very much look forward to eating at Ammos Taverna when I revisit Santorini as a tourist!

Ammos is a very cute family restaurant!The great thing is that you can order your food, enjoy the sea and the sun on the beach just in front of the restaurant, and have your lunch when it is ready, in your swimming suit ...very relaxing. We ate fresh fish nicely grilled, and several bits and pieces, all very tasty. Especially the local cheese and vegetables (fried white aubergines- yummie) are a real treat. The service was friendly and the prices very reasonable for the quality offered. Overall, highly recommended :-)

The picturesque fish tavern Ammos (= sand) is located at Perivolos, the most beautiful beach in Santorini. It would be like all other fish taverns in the area, if Angelos and Olina, the owners, did not welcome you with their big, warm smile. If all those little, but cute decorative details did not exist (for example the small home yard, made from local building materials and painted according to cycladic colours), which make you feel the hospitality and warmth of the island and it’s people. If all those little sea treasures were missing such as pebbles, starfish, seashells, nets even seaweeds, which decorate the walls in a creative and tasteful way that really relaxes you and also stimulates your appetite for dives and … fish !!!! The menu, also known as the trump card of the specific tavern, in connection with the reasonable prices are too strong a temptation for the customers to resist!!!! All dishes, from fish to meat, are created with plenty of taste and love. Angelos and Olina think very much about their customers by using local products for their unique dishes. Try the small santorinian tomatoes, caper, fava, oregano, vegetables, local wine and do not forget the fish, mpala and sargos that you can only find in the Aegean sea. Once you leave Ammos, you have not only enjoyed an excellent meal but you have also met the real greek hospitality through the staff that serves you with such willingness and politeness…

Very nice decorated space, friendly atmosphere, home made dishes, fresh fish, authentic hospitality, extremely good prices, quick service, beautiful smiles... Olina and Angelos, thank you for the wonderful time me and my friends spent in your family operated tavern! We love you!!!
