In the quaint village of Firostefani, my husband and I had a reservation made for a double room for 2 days at the Galini Hotel. When we arrived on July 20, 2005, we were not prepared for the picturesque sight we were about to behold. The hotel sits atop the caldera overlooking the beautiful Aegean Sea. We checked in at the hotel desk, and we were greeted with a warm, friendly welcome and escorted to our room. We had a double room with a four poster bed with canopy and a side twin bed. All decor in the colors of the sea--deep blue and white. The room had air conditioning and a mini-bar which came in handy for our romantic getaway.
We had a balcony that was beyond belief as it opened up to a railing overlooking the captivating Aegean Sea.
It was such a mystical experience to be in a place that had so much history and beauty beyond belief.
As we ventured out, we were invited to stop in at the hotels cafe which is located on the upper level of the hotel. The Galini cafe was very traditional with its cafe tables and excellent cuisine prepared and served to your table. The cook at the cafe was exceptional as she arranged the tasty treats we ordered such as omelets for breakfast and a Greek salad for lunch. We took several pictures with our digital camera from the cafe as it had a stunning view. We were perched atop the rim of the caldera gazing over the magnificient view of the magical blue sea. As evening approached, we retired to our room as the sun was setting. From our balcony, we could see the yellow light of the moon descending across the water and the horizon turning a reddish glow as it touched the water. It truly was the experience of a lifetime to be in this magical place. My thanks to the Galini Hotel for accomodating us with such friendly hospitality and a comfortable stay. I hope I will be able to return someday.
With Gratitude,
