MESA PIGADIA
A quiet wonderful rocky beach. One of the many hidden spots for swimming near the extreme nature of the island in the area of Akrotiri. The beach is not very large and it consists of sand with pebbles and also with larger stones on it. It is just 800m from the main Akrotiri road and there is a restaurant on the beach among the several cave houses called varkadies (used to host fishing boats during the winter). On Mesa Pigadia it is a little bit more quiet than on some of the other beaches because it is more out of the route.

The road is in good condition (no asphalt) even bikes manage to reach the beach. You can reach the beach over a dirt track. You can get there on foot but also with a good car or for instance a quad. Another way to reach the beach is with the small boats that depart from Akrotiri area (just in front of the Archaeological site). The price for the ride is 7 euros and also the price for an umbrella on the beach is 7 euros (July 2007). Mesa Pigadia Beach is surrounded by high white cliffs. There are a couple of cavehouses that were used to house fishing boats during the winter.
